DeafACT, inc strives to unite the Deaf and hearing communities by
encouraging awareness of each other's culture; we accomplish this goal
through educational theater performed by children using American Sign
Language. ~
Board Member Bio
Asheley Landrum
Founder and Board member
Asheley is a theatre and dance buff who loves
working with children's theatre! After
10 years of intensive, pre professional ballet training, Asheley found a love
of theatre and participated in the Broccoli Project theatre troupe for all four
years of her undergraduate education at UT Austin – directing, producing and
acting in several plays. It was at UT
Austin that Asheley discovered a love of sign language and the deaf community. She founded DeafACT in August 2005 after her
graduation, and served as president for DeafACT's first three years. Asheley holds a Graduate Academic Certificate in Volunteer
and Community Resource Management and is currently working on her Ph.D. in
Psychological Sciences with a focus on adolescent aggression in
extra-curricular activities.
